Experiential Practice for Well-being
Maitai River (2)
MEETING PLACE: Maitai River (Jickells Bridge), Nelson
These sessions provide you with practices to bring yourself back into balance with the natural world.
In this second of a series of four one hour sessions, Mark will utilise his knowledge and practical experience of mindful awareness in nature and ecopsychology and provide attendees with practices to allow for deeper connection with self and the natural world.
Our senses are the means of connection between ourselves and the world around us. Awakening our senses can connect us to the wonders of nature, for well-being and other personal benefits. Practices such as ecotuning, forest bathing and ecotherapy share such aspirations.
In addition to the individual benefits, connection to nature has been shown to invigorate an innate desire to look after and care for the world around us.
Both outcomes are integral within the project of ecopsychology: recognising, acknowledging and nurturing reciprocal relations with our natural surroundings is vital for human and ecological health and sustainability.
The Maitai river is a special place and holds a special place in the hearts of many of us who live in this area. The river, and the bush along its banks, is a magical place.
